Daily sudoku gives you one fresh puzzle every day, and everyone in the world gets the very same grid. It is a medium-difficulty challenge that fits neatly into a coffee break, a commute, or a wind-down before bed. Solve it, keep your daily streak alive, and come back tomorrow for the next one, free in your browser with no sign-up.
What is Daily Sudoku?
Daily Sudoku is our puzzle of the day. Instead of generating a new grid every time you press play, it serves a single puzzle per UTC day that is identical for every player on PlayToffee. The rules are the classic ones: fill the 9x9 grid so each row, column, and 3x3 box has the digits 1 to 9 exactly once. Like all of our puzzles, it has one unique solution.
It is designed for people who like a ritual. Some players solve it first thing in the morning; others save it for the end of the day. Because everybody gets the same puzzle, it is also a fun thing to share. Text a friend your time, compare how many hints you used, or race a family member to finish first.
How to Play Daily Sudoku
- Open today's puzzle. Come to this page any time during the UTC day and the current daily grid loads automatically.
- Pick a cell and fill it. Select an empty cell with a click, a tap, or the arrow keys and WASD, then enter a digit from 1 to 9.
- Use notes for tricky spots. Press N or tap Notes to add pencil marks. When you place a digit, related notes in that row, column, and box clear themselves.
- Fix mistakes as you go. Undo with Ctrl+Z (Cmd+Z), or erase with Backspace, Delete, or 0. Mistakes are counted, but you never lose the game because of them.
- Finish to extend your streak. Solve the grid and today counts toward your daily streak.
- Pause any time. Autosave keeps your progress if you close the tab, so you can finish later in the same day.
- Come back tomorrow. A brand-new daily puzzle appears when the next UTC day begins.

Tips & Strategies
The daily puzzle is medium difficulty, so these tips focus on solving it smoothly and protecting your streak.
- Open with a quick digit sweep. Start with whichever digit appears most often in the givens, then cross-hatch each box for it. Run through all nine digits once before you write any notes; you will usually place a good chunk of the grid this way.
- Look for hidden singles in boxes. On medium grids, the most productive move is often a digit that can only go in one cell of a box, even though that cell has other candidates. Check boxes that are already half full.
- Add notes to the hardest region, not the whole grid. For a medium puzzle you rarely need candidates everywhere. Mark the emptiest box or row, solve it, and let the progress spread outward.
- Watch for naked pairs. When two cells in a unit share the same two candidates, clear those digits from the rest of the unit. One pair often unlocks two or three placements.
- Try pointing pairs when progress slows. If a digit's candidates inside a box all sit in one row or column, remove that digit from the rest of that line outside the box.
- Protect your streak on busy days. Start the puzzle early. Autosave means you can do half now and finish later, as long as you finish before the UTC day ends.
- Make your own challenge. Since everyone plays the same grid, set a goal like "no hints, zero mistakes" and compare results with friends.
How the Daily Sudoku Works
The daily puzzle runs on Coordinated Universal Time (UTC), the same clock everywhere on Earth. That is what makes the puzzle truly shared: a player in New York, London, or Sydney sees the same grid during the same UTC day. For players in the United States, the new puzzle arrives in the evening. During daylight saving time it switches at 8 p.m. Eastern, 7 p.m. Central, 6 p.m. Mountain, and 5 p.m. Pacific, one hour earlier in winter.
Your daily streak counts how many UTC days in a row you have solved the daily puzzle. Solve today and your streak grows by one. Skip a day and it starts again from zero. Your streak sits alongside the rest of your personal stats (games played, win rate, best time, and streaks), and no account is needed. Play on the same device and browser to keep it going.
Mistakes never end your game. The mistakes counter is there for your own scorekeeping, so a slip does not cost you the puzzle; erase it or undo and keep going. If you hit a wall, a hint reveals one correct cell so you can still finish today's grid.
