This Cookie Policy explains how PlayToffee (playtoffee.com) uses cookies, browser storage and similar technologies, and how you can control them. It should be read together with our Privacy Policy.
What Are Cookies and Local Storage?
Cookies are small text files that a website stores in your browser. They let a site, or services it uses, recognize your browser on later visits.
Local storage (localStorage) is a similar feature built into modern browsers. It lets a website keep data on your device, but unlike cookies, it is not sent to a server with every request. PlayToffee uses localStorage to save your games.
Cookies and storage can be first-party (set by playtoffee.com) or third-party (set by another service, such as Google, whose content appears on our pages).
Game Saves and Settings (Local Storage)
Our own games, the PlayToffee Originals, save data in your browser's localStorage so that you can pick up where you left off without an account. All of these items use keys that begin with pt: and fall into these groups:
- Saved games β your current game in progress, so an unfinished puzzle is still there when you return.
- Statistics β games played, games won, best times and daily challenge streaks.
- Favorites β the games you have marked as favorites.
- Recently played β a short list of games you played recently, shown to help you find them again.
- Settings β preferences such as sound on or off, theme, and game options.
This data never leaves your device and is not shared with us or anyone else. Because it is essential to the features you use, it does not require consent. If you clear it, your saves and stats will be gone, and we cannot recover them.
Analytics Cookies
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors use PlayToffee, for example which games are played most and which devices people use. Google Analytics sets first-party cookies, typically named _ga and _ga_<ID>, which store a randomly generated identifier and session information. They usually last up to two years.
We use Google Consent Mode. Where consent is required, these cookies are not set until you agree to analytics, and Google receives only limited, cookieless signals in the meantime.
Advertising Cookies
PlayToffee is free because of advertising. We use Google AdSense to show ads on our pages and may use Google's ad services for HTML5 games inside our own games. Google and its partners may set cookies (for example IDE, __gads and __gpi) to deliver ads, limit repetition, measure performance, detect fraud and, with your permission where required, personalize ads based on your interests.
You can learn more at How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services and manage ad personalization at Google Ads Settings.
Consent Management Cookies
If you visit from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, we show a consent message powered by Google's certified consent management platform. Your choices are stored in a cookie (such as FCCDCF or FCNEC) so we can respect them on future visits and pass them to Google and other vendors through the IAB Transparency and Consent Framework.
Embedded Third-Party Games
Licensed games from GameDistribution and GameMonetize load inside an iframe served from the platform's own domain. These platforms and their advertising partners may set their own cookies or use local storage inside the game frame, for example to save game progress, show ads and measure gameplay. PlayToffee does not control these cookies. Please see the privacy and cookie policies of those platforms for details.
Security and Performance
Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, may set strictly necessary cookies (such as __cf_bm) to protect the Site from bots and attacks. These do not track you across websites and do not require consent.
How to Manage and Clear Cookies
- Change your consent: Visitors in the EEA, UK and Switzerland can reopen the consent message at any time using the privacy settings link in the Site footer and change their choices.
- Browser controls: Every major browser lets you view, block and delete cookies and site data. Look under Settings, then Privacy or Site Data, in Chrome, Safari, Firefox or Edge.
- Clear only PlayToffee data: In most browsers you can remove data for a single site. Search your browser's site settings for playtoffee.com and choose to clear its data. This deletes your game saves, stats, favorites and recently played list.
- Opt out of personalized ads: Use Google Ads Settings or www.aboutads.info.
Blocking all cookies and storage may stop some games from saving or loading properly.
Changes and Contact
We may update this Cookie Policy when our services or the law change, and we will update the date at the top of this page. Questions? Email us at contact@playtoffee.com.
