This Privacy Policy explains what information is processed when you visit PlayToffee (playtoffee.com, the "Site"), who processes it, and the choices you have. In this policy, "PlayToffee", "we", "us" and "our" refer to the operator of the Site. If you have any questions, contact us at contact@playtoffee.com.

The short version: PlayToffee has no accounts, and we do not ask you for your name, email address or any other personal details to play. Your game progress stays in your own browser. We use Google Analytics to understand how the Site is used and Google advertising services to keep the Site free, and those services use cookies and similar technologies as described below, subject to your consent where the law requires it.

Information We Collect

Information you give us

We do not collect personal information directly through the Site. There are no sign-up forms, logins or comment sections. If you choose to email us, we receive your email address and whatever you include in your message, and we use it only to reply to you and handle your request.

Information stored on your device (local storage)

Our own games (PlayToffee Originals) save data in your browser's localStorage, a storage area on your device. This includes your saved games in progress, statistics such as games played and best times, daily challenge streaks, your favorite games, your recently played games, and settings such as sound and theme. These items use keys beginning with pt:.

This data stays on your device. It is not sent to our servers, and we cannot see it, access it or restore it. You can delete it at any time by clearing your browser's site data for playtoffee.com. Our Cookie Policy lists these storage items in more detail.

Analytics information

We use Google Analytics 4, a web analytics service provided by Google LLC, to understand how visitors use the Site, such as which games are popular, which pages people visit, how long games take to load, and which devices and browsers are common. Google Analytics uses cookies and similar technologies to collect information such as pages viewed, approximate location (derived from your IP address, at the city or country level), device type, browser, referring website, and interactions like starting or finishing a game.

Google Analytics 4 does not log or store full IP addresses. We do not send Google Analytics any information that directly identifies you, such as a name or email address. We use Google Consent Mode, which means that where consent is required, analytics cookies are not set until you agree, and Google receives only limited, cookieless signals in the meantime.

Advertising information

PlayToffee is supported by advertising. We use Google AdSense to show display ads on our pages and may use Google's ad services for HTML5 games (such as H5 Games Ads) to show ads inside our own games. Google and its advertising partners may use cookies, web beacons, device identifiers and similar technologies to serve ads, limit how often you see the same ad, measure ad performance and prevent fraud.

Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this Site or other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this Site and/or other sites on the internet. Depending on your location and choices, ads may be personalized (based on your interests) or non-personalized (based on general context, such as the page you are viewing and your approximate location).

Embedded third-party games

Some games on PlayToffee are made by other developers and are provided through licensed distribution platforms, currently GameDistribution and GameMonetize. These games are loaded inside an embedded frame (an iframe) served directly by the platform. When you play one of these games, the platform and its advertising partners may set their own cookies, collect information about your device and gameplay, and show their own ads inside the game frame.

This processing is controlled by those providers, not by PlayToffee, and is governed by their own privacy policies. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of GameDistribution and GameMonetize. Where these platforms support it, consent choices you make on PlayToffee may be passed along to them.

Server and security logs

The Site is hosted and delivered through Cloudflare, which acts as our hosting provider and content delivery network. Like most web services, Cloudflare processes technical information about each request, such as your IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time of the request. This is necessary to deliver the Site, keep it fast, and protect it against abuse and attacks. Cloudflare may use security cookies or similar tools that are strictly necessary for these purposes.

How We Use Information

We use the information described above to:

  • Provide the Site and our games, including saving your progress on your device.
  • Understand which games and features people enjoy so we can improve them and decide what to build next.
  • Detect and fix technical problems, such as games that fail to load on certain devices.
  • Show ads that fund the Site, and measure how those ads perform.
  • Protect the Site and its visitors against fraud, spam and security threats.
  • Respond to your emails and requests.
  • Comply with legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal information for money. We do not build profiles about you ourselves.

Cookies are small text files that websites place on your device. We and our partners use cookies and similar technologies for analytics and advertising, and our own games use localStorage for saves. For full details, see our Cookie Policy.

Visitors in the European Economic Area (EEA), United Kingdom and Switzerland: We use a consent management platform certified by Google and integrated with the IAB Transparency and Consent Framework (Google's Privacy & messaging tool). When you first visit, you will see a message asking for your consent to the use of cookies and the processing of personal data for purposes such as analytics, ad personalization and ad measurement. You can accept, reject, or choose specific purposes and vendors. Non-essential cookies are not used until you consent, and you can change your choices at any time using the privacy or cookie settings link in the Site footer.

Visitors in other regions: Depending on where you live, you may see a different message or have the option to opt out of certain processing, as described below.

Your Choices and Opt-Out Options

  • Ad personalization: You can manage or turn off personalized ads from Google at Google Ads Settings.
  • Other advertising networks: You can opt out of personalized advertising from many participating companies at www.aboutads.info.
  • Google Analytics: You can prevent Google Analytics from collecting your data by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
  • Browser settings: Most browsers let you block or delete cookies and site data. Blocking all cookies may affect how some games work, and clearing site data for playtoffee.com will erase your saved games and statistics.
  • Global Privacy Control: Where required by law, we treat a Global Privacy Control signal sent by your browser as a valid request to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information.

Children's Privacy

PlayToffee is a general-audience website. It is not directed to children under 13 in a way that collects their personal information, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. We do not offer accounts, chat, or any feature that asks players to share personal details.

To help comply with the U.S. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and similar laws, we do not use the Site to knowingly serve personalized ads to children. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, for example by emailing us, please contact us at contact@playtoffee.com and we will delete it. We encourage parents to supervise their children's online activity.

Your Privacy Rights

California and other U.S. states

If you live in California or another U.S. state with a comprehensive privacy law, you may have the right to know what personal information is collected about you, to access and delete it, to correct it, and to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, as those terms are defined under the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CCPA/CPRA).

We do not sell personal information for money. However, allowing advertising partners to use cookies for personalized ads may be considered "selling" or "sharing" under these laws. To opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information, you can use the "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" option in our privacy settings where it is shown, turn on Global Privacy Control in your browser, or email us at contact@playtoffee.com. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.

EEA, UK and Switzerland (GDPR)

If you are in the EEA, the UK or Switzerland, data protection laws such as the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and UK GDPR give you rights including the right to access your personal data, to have it corrected or erased, to restrict or object to processing, to data portability, and to withdraw consent at any time without affecting the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal.

Our legal bases for processing are: your consent for analytics and advertising cookies and personalized ads; our legitimate interests in operating, securing and improving the Site; and, where applicable, legal obligations. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

Because we do not have accounts and do not hold directly identifying information about most visitors, we may need specific details (such as a cookie identifier) to locate data, and many requests are best handled directly through Google's tools or your consent settings.

Data Retention

  • localStorage game data remains on your device until you clear it. We never receive it.
  • Google Analytics data is retained according to the retention period set in our Google Analytics account, which is no longer than 14 months for user-level event data, after which it is automatically deleted. Aggregated reports may be kept longer.
  • Advertising data is retained by Google and its partners according to their own policies.
  • Emails you send us are kept only as long as needed to handle your request and for reasonable record-keeping, then deleted.
  • Server and security logs processed by Cloudflare are kept for a limited period according to Cloudflare's policies.

International Data Transfers

PlayToffee is available worldwide, and our service providers, including Google and Cloudflare, process data in the United States and other countries. These countries may have data protection laws different from those in your country. Where personal data from the EEA, UK or Switzerland is transferred, our providers rely on recognized safeguards such as the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework and its UK and Swiss extensions, or Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission.

Security

We use HTTPS encryption on every page and rely on reputable providers with strong security practices. Because we do not collect account data, there is very little personal information associated with the Site in the first place. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, but we work to protect the information we handle.

The Site may link to other websites, such as privacy tools provided by Google. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those websites, and we encourage you to read their privacy policies.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, for example when we add new features, change service providers, or when laws change. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. If changes are significant, we may also show a notice on the Site. Please review this page periodically.
